Scientific Games is set to introduce camera-based lottery technology to North Rhine-Westphalia.

According to research from Betmentor.com, Germany’s largest state lottery, WestLotto, is set to revolutionize its retail experience in North Rhine-Westphalia with the introduction of cutting-edge camera-based technology in partnership with Scientific Games.

Starting in April 2025, Scientific Games will deploy its advanced Contour.v terminals across WestLotto’s extensive network including over 3,000 retail outlets. These terminals represent a leap forward in retail lottery transactions, offering contactless player interactions and mobile scanning capabilities.

The Contour.v terminals feature state-of-the-art optical technology, providing an easily accessible ticket scan area and high-definition screens that can be configured for both clerks and players.

Andreas Kötter, managing director of Westdeutsche Lotterie, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “Our collaboration with Scientific Games continues to modernize our retail network. The introduction of camera-based terminals marks a significant stride towards digitizing transactions, and we anticipate a positive response from both our retailers and players.”

Scientific Games has a longstanding relationship with WestLotto spanning over 25 years, providing a range of services including instant games, retailer management systems, retail point-of-sale technology, iLottery, and sports betting. Moreover, Scientific Games serves all 16 lotteries in Germany and has plans to introduce Contour.v terminals with Lotto Bremen and Lotto Hessen.
